Our investment and pensions advice service

We are sadly no longer taking on new investment or pension clients. Existing clients can contact us as normal.

Based in Wetherby, between Leeds, York and Harrogate, we offer investment advice to clients across the UK with pension, ISA or investment portfolio assets of over £200,000. No initial face-to-face meeting is needed, unless you want one. No fee is charged for an initial assesment of your circumstances to see what we can do to help.

How can we help?

Investing in the financial markets is a great way to save for your future, if you do it right. Many people, however, take either too much risk or too little risk, and most pay far too much in charges. That's where our investment management service can help.

For clients with money already invested

If you already have an investment portfolio of £200,000 or more then we will assess the risk you are taking, the performance of your existing funds, the charges you are paying and whether you are sheltering your money from tax as much as possible. We will then recommend changes where necessary.

What does our ongoing service involve?

As part of our ongoing investment advice service we will provide regular written reports on the performance of your portfolios and recommend changes to the funds you hold as and when necessary. We will also provide as much ad-hoc consultation on your investments, by phone and email, as you need.

What types of investments do we advise on?

We advise on the following areas, among others:

  • Pensions, ISAs and investment portfolios
  • Designing an appropriate portfolio of funds and other investments based on your appetite for investment risk, and capacity to absorb potential losses.
  • Equity funds
  • Bond funds
  • Infrastructure funds
  • Balanced, strategic funds which invest across a broad spectrum of assets

What are our charges for ongoing investment advice?

Our standard charge is 0.5% of assets per year, which is deducted directly from your investment portfolio. There is usually no initial charge (we will warn you in advance if we would need to charge one in your case).

How does the minimum investment amount work?

In order for us to help, you must have at least £200,000 in a single account (pension, ISA or investment portfolio), with a provider who will allow us to register as the servicing adviser. If you aren't sure whether your provider will allow this, just ask us.

Alternatively you must have £200,000 or more in cash which you wish to invest.

Why choose Wendy Cochran Independent Financial Advice?

Wendy Cochran IFA is based in Wetherby, Yorkshire but offers investment and wealth management advice to clients across the UK.

Prior to becoming an independent financial adviser and wealth manager Wendy worked as a fund manager on the UK and US stockmarkets for Aegon Asset Management and Edinburgh Fund Managers. This gives her an in-depth knowledge of financial markets, and allows her to both design bespoke investment portfolios for her clients and offer personalised financial advice. Other advice firms, which do not have such in-house investment expertise, have to pay to out-source investment portfolio design and selection, which costs their clients significant amounts in fees.

We pride ourself on offering a friendly and efficient service, at a fair, transparent price, while ensuring that you understand our advice clearly.

We invest significant amounts of our own money in the investment portfolios and companies that we recommend to our clients, ensuring that we are focused on delivering the best possible outcome for you.

We will assess your situation in an initial consultation, by phone or face to face, and will then research the best solution for you before providing a recommendation. You will pay no charges for our service without being asked to confirm in advance that you are happy to pay them.
